[ニュース] ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- AppleとSGIがVRML2.0技術で提携 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://product.info.apple.com/pr/press.releases/1997/q1/961212.pr.rel.sgi.html http://www.sgi.com/Headlines/1996/December/apple_release.html http://vrml.sgi.com/ 米Apple Computer社と米Silicon Graphics（SGI）社は、パーソナルコンピュータ 上でのVRMLブラウジング技術について提携を行なったと発表した。 Appleは、SGIが開発したVRML2.0ブラウザー「Cosmo Player」のMacintosh版を Internet Connection Kitにバンドルして出荷する。SGIはMacOS用のCosmo Playerを 97年早々にも公開する予定としている。 それに加え、SGIはWindows 95/NT版Cosmo Playerで、AppleのQuickDraw 3Dをレン ダリングエンジンの1つとして採用する。 Cosmo Playerは、すでにWindows版とUNIX版がSGIのホームページ上で公開されてい る。動作にはNetscape NavigatorまたはInternet Explorerが必要だ（Mac版では Cyberdogもサポート）。 [Reported by nagase@impress.co.jp] (96年12月16日)
